Description:
The Director Surgical Services directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives established in conjunction with upper management.
Areas include quality improvement, fiscal productivity, and patient satisfaction.
The Director Surgical Services provides overall direction and leadership for the provision of safe, effective and cost efficient patient care within the Surgical Services Departments (Pre-Procedure Screening, One Day Surgery, OR, Central Processing and PACU).
The director serves as the primary liaison with the contracted anesthesia service, performing quality oversight and coordination with the service as well as the primary liaison with the Surgical Executive Committee which is responsible for medical oversight of surgical practice within the hospital.
Qualifications:
Graduate of a Program in Professional Nursing required.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required and a Master's degree is preferred.
American Hearth Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Advanced Cardiovascular LifeSupport (ACLS) American Heart Association required.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or compact state required.
Five(5) years’ experience in surgical specialty setting required.
Three(3) years’ experience as a full-time perioperative supervisory/management role required.
Additional info:
The hospital is 250 beds. Position reports to Chief Operating Officer.
The candidate needs to have previous director experience at a similar size facility with similar surgical services (Ortho, General, ENT, Spine, Urology, and Vascular.)
There are roughly 60 staff within the areas of responsibility.  The department includes 11 operational OR's and typically runs 4-6 rooms daily which perform between 350 and 450 cases per month across a range of surgical specialties.
Compensation is based on experience and the range is between 97K-120K and the facility offers full benefits with a relocation package as well.
