Purpose
The HMDA Coordinator is directly responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data, including the submission of the Loan/Application Register (LAR). The HMDA Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing all loans, including denied and withdrawn applications, for proper and accurate HMDA documentation, as well as provide feedback to management on violations and areas of weakness, and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken. In addition, this position will conduct ongoing compliance reviews of HMDA processes to ensure the most effective processes are utilized.
Qualifications
The HMDA Coordinator must have in depth knowledge of loan documentation to be proficient at interpreting, analyzing, and understanding HMDA laws and regulations, data, and reporting requirements. The incumbent will possess the regulatory knowledge to verify the accuracy of data collected, review loan files as needed to validate information reported on the HMDA LAR. The applicant must have strong organizational, time management, and logical thinking skills. Be an effective communicator who can be persuasive and persistent. In addition, the applicant must be a self-starter who can work independently, as well as working in a team environment to ensure a high level of productivity and commitment. Positive attitude, detailed-oriented, and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications. Bachelor’s degree and HMDA related experience preferred; however, will consider the equivalent of job experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position.
Primary Duties
The primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintains procedures on the end-to-end process of collecting, recording, and reporting of HMDA reportable loans
• Stays abreast of regulatory changes that impact HMDA and residential mortgage lending industry
• Performs reviews on all new loan applications to ensure HMDA data is complete and accurate.
• Performs origination and adverse HMDA testing and trending analysis.
• Prepares the HMDA LAR submissions, as well as monthly HMDA exception reviews and scrubbing of HMDA data.
• Remediates all identified errors.
• Oversees, reviews, and monitors the loan origination system to ensure updates meet regulation requirements.
• Informs manager of frequently occurring HMDA errors or if errors exceed the maximum allowable regulatory threshold.
• Makes recommendations for improving compliance systems and appropriate corrective action of deficiencies.
• Fields questions regarding HMDA.
• Prepares periodic summary reports for Management and the Board of Directors.
Perform other duties as assigned and directed by management.
Working Conditions
Duties are performed in an office environment in a professional business setting. Position may require travel when attending community events/meetings, internal meetings/trainings and to banking centers.
Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
May be required to sit for extended periods of time while performing job duties. May be required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds in the form of paperwork, files, or other items. Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time, paying attention to detail.
