Position Summary
The ES product manager is responsible for the strategy, administration and management of Firm's global enterprise search system, with the goal of supporting and accelerating the practice and business of law at the Firm.
This position manages the implementation, operation and ongoing evolution of the enterprise search application and operating platform. In collaboration with other thought-leaders, this position identifies opportunities to improve and expand the ES capabilities, evaluates competing platforms, and is responsible for establishing and driving the strategic roadmap for adoption of the product.
The position prefers prior law firm experience in implementing products of this kind as well as significant expertise in change management methodologies, vendor relations, personnel management in both a direct and matrixed reporting structure.
Our Techology Team
Technology plays a key role in enabling our lawyers is practicing law around the world.
Our team comprises of three functions: Business Services - who maintain, develop and support our enterprise systems, Operations - who design, build and support our communications and data centre operations, and Support Services - who provide desktop, meeting and training support in the Firm's offices. Together we support our lawyers with leading edge technology and systems to deliver elite legal and best-in-class client service.
Globally-minded and diverse, our team covers a range of technical disciplines and business skill sets. This encompasses from business analysts, data architects, application developers and engineering staff covering range of technologies that include virtualisation, cloud, networking, storage, collaboration services and security. We deploy the latest technology and hardware within our state of the art offices. Our technical support staff support and train our people on the latest hardware and operating systems, remote working capability and mobile devices. Our Shared Services centres provide Service Desk and Operation Centres that providing support and monitoring of Firm systems 24 x 7.
Working closely with our business services colleagues in support of the Firm's Finance, HR, Marketing and KM Information Technology systems Drawing, Global Technology Services is at the heart of the Firm's global operations.
Duties and Accountabilities1
• Set Search strategy and direction for the Firm.
• Assume ownership of the product to plan, implement and manage.
• Represent the value-add of the product to Firm leadership.
• Manage vendor relationships and keep abreast of new industry trends in legal Enterprise Search to address current needs, as well as to anticipate future growth and opportunities.
• Collaborate with users to determine how the system/applicaiton is meeting their needs and engage with Firm leaders, identify and prioritize opportunities to enhance or expand the search technologies and to collaborate with other KM and Firm solutions.
• Ensure the system is maintained, monitored and administered properly and that users receive adequate training and support by in-house IT staff and external consultants, meeting targets for uptime and availability.
• Ensure system continues to grow and develop through a release cycle to ensure timely delivery of features and functionality that reflect the firm's strategic business goals and priorities.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable data privacy regulations and policies.
• Engage with legal and non-legal members of the Firm to promote use of the system through targeted discussions, business analysis, communications, presentations, and training
• Facilitate all required actions for meeting product satisfaction targets.
• Proactive communication of product use with various technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
• Five years of related product management or product support services
• Minimum of five years managing within a large law or professional services firm
• Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or related area
• Law degree optional but preferred
