POSITION SUMMARY:
The Unit Research Administrator will work in a professional capacity with principal investigators and their study teams to manage pre-award research administration for a high volume of complex industry-sponsored clinical trial projects.  This position will be a technical leader with specialized knowledge to facilitate development of budgets, to negotiate budget-related terms in clinical trial agreements and to develop and negotiate general clinical trial agreement language.  A primary function of the unit research administrator is to be a liaison to ensure adequate communication between sponsors, CROs, principal investigators, study coordinators and relevant USF departments such as General Counsel, Patents and Licensing, and Sponsored Research.  This often requires analysis of unique issues and problems without precedent and/or structure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with principal investigators and their study teams to develop appropriate budgets and to negotiate clinical trial agreement payment terms while meeting expectations for executed document deadlines within industry standards.  Determine appropriate vendors and obtain quotes for complex procedures.  Facilitate project opening for executed contracts.
• Attend site qualification visits and meet with study teams to develop coverage analysis.
• Resolve complex issues associated with ongoing projects.
• Review clinical trial agreement language and revise as required, routing through USF and sponsors to achieve successful contract execution within industry standards
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional administrative experience; or a Master's degree.
• Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
• Progressively responsible experience involving grant development or administration.
