USF Information Technology (USF IT) provides technology services and support for the University of South Florida. The IT team, led by the Vice President and CIO, provides the following services: Administrative Services, Client Support, Communication Services, Teaching and Learning, Analytics and Reporting, Mobile and Web Services, Consulting Services, Cybersecurity Service and Research Technologies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides integrated technical support for the learners, faculty and staff for the Experiential Learning & Simulation (ELS) within the department of Medical Education. They will also support activities conducted physically within the simulation learning spaces on campus, delivering high-quality, state-of-the-art simulated clinical training experiences to the students. This position requires the complete understanding of the ELS existing IT infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Installs, upgrades, maintains and troubleshoots all hardware and software required to perform simulation activities for ELS. This includes but is not limited to: audio visual control systems,  DSPs, encoders, PCs and peripherals.
• Maintains, configures and verifies the reliable operation of the complex learning management system employed by ELS. This includes any computer systems and encoding endpoints that require connection, including all necessary documentation as well as the aggregation of gathered metrics and analytics from the multiple platforms for the purpose of accreditation.
• Provides technical support for new technologies for the ELS simulation environment; serves as project lead for unit-wide technology projects, offering functional guidance and direction to lower graded staff or student assistants.
• Provides individual and/or group instruction and training to students, faculty and staff on any simulation-related systems.
• Responsible for analyzing current and workflows that facilitate and support clinical medical training.  Reviews, evaluates and recommends potential solutions for hardware and software procurement.
• Performs miscellaneous information technology support duties as required to meet the needs of the unit.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and one year of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and two years of IT related work experience, OR a Master's degree and one year of IT related work experience, OR a combination of five years of IT related work experience and validated training. Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training.
PREFERRED:
• Simulation experience
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
• Deep understanding of medical simulation workflows and recording multi-channel videos.
• Knowledgeable in Audio Visual pathways and concepts (matrix routing, DSPs, control automation).
