Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $15.80 hourly / 10 hours per week
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Ybor Youth Clinic (YYC) is a non-profit, inner-city clinic in Tampa, Florida, that provides healthcare services at no or reduced cost to medically underserved and disenfranchised youth aged 13 to 24 in an environment tailored to them. The clinic is part of the USF Department of Pediatrics and functions as a non-profit under the umbrella of the USF Foundation. Services include STI and HIV testing and treatment; gynecologic examinations and birth control; HIV prevention regimens; access to research protocols, and referrals to other community organizations. The YYC has close to 2000 patient visits per year, with about half of patients walking in and requesting testing services and the other half coming in for scheduled appointments for other services and treatment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Social Marketing Intern works under the supervision of the Executive Director and will work with other YYC and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division (PID) staff to coordinate the development of social marketing projects and educational materials, and the marketing of YYC programs and PID research protocols to the Tampa community. The internship will include oversight of scheduled initiatives, such as social media presence, as well as the development of new marketing strategies based on the clinic’s needs and intern’s interests.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Oversight of YYC social media calendar
• Scheduled postings on YYC social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
• Collaboration with other USF PID staff to develop social marketing related to YYC projects
• Social media promotion of special YYC events
• Production of printed materials as needed
• With Database Intern, periodic assessment of efficiency in reaching YYC target patient population
• Development of materials for YYC donors
• Development of marketing plan to solicit financial support from local business community
• Other projects based on Social Marketing Intern’s ideas with goal of enhancing understanding of YYC services and mission in the community
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least four years of experience in an office or administrative support position requiring use of desktop publishing applications. Appropriate additional education may be substituted for this experience requirement.
PREFERRED:
• Graduate coursework in social marketing, marketing, health communication, or related field, e.g. PHC 6411 (Introduction to Social Marketing for Public Health).
• Previous experience with social media content strategy development and oversight.
• Previous experience with design software, such as Adobe Publisher, InDesign, or Illustrator.
• Previous experience with public health and targeted messaging campaigns.
