Social Media Environment and Internet Replication (SMEIR™), a product of IDS International Government Services, is a digital training solution that provides a full-range, free-play, immersive, realistic and scalable operational practice environment in which warfighters simultaneously train on full-spectrum cyberspace operations and social media analytics during integrated and multi-dimensional exercises.
IDS International is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team and build the next generation of our internet simulation platform, called SMEIR. This engineer will replicate different websites and social media platforms to be used for cyber-training exercises. IDS’s engineering team uses a modified Scrum/Agile process. As a successful candidate, you are at ease working in an agile environment with minimal oversight. IDS uses Slack, Jira and Git for project and software management. Our main office is in Arlington, VA but we are open to remote candidates. This role reports to the TechOps Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, setup and maintain SMEIR deployments on IDS-owned and customer-owned hardware.
• Install and maintain departmental IT services, including those used by our Development team.
• Maintain and administer virtual and physical computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware and configurations.
• Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups.
• Protect data, software, and hardware by developing network security measures.
• Work with the Development team to create new or maintain existing automation and orchestration capabilities.
• Maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions produced by the Development team.
• Work with customers during demonstrations, installations, and support processes.
Required Qualifications:
• We are looking for someone with professional experience in most of the following technologies:
• Linux, Ansible, Terraform, VMWare, Kubernetes, Docker, Cisco devices, and AWS.
• Working knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, and HTTPS).
• Ability to explain system specifications and functionality to customers, and ability to collect and transfer customer requirements to specific technical tasks.
• At least one year of professional experience with Kubernetes.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with a government contractor.
• Experience in a cybersecurity or cyber warfare industry.
• Experience working as part of an IT service delivery team and familiarity with ITIL concepts.
