Overview:
The IT Systems Educator is responsible for achieving an in-depth understanding of the policies, procedures and workflows of the EHR and Practice Management (eClinical Works) application(s). The Educator will assist in the development of training programs, training materials, and methods for clinical and non-clinical end users. The IT Systems Educator will also train additional trainers (super-users) within the organization. Supports and collaborates with IT department, clinical staff and management in the testing, implementation and onsite/virtual support of various IT projects. This position requires frequent travel to units within assigned region as well as travel to other regions periodically as required.
Responsibilities:
• Helps evaluate existing training/educational programs and suggests enhancements to those programs.
• Facilitate EHR and Practice Management training program for New Employee orientation.
• Assesses, plans, develops and implements educational programs for staff based on needs assessments, new computer applications, system updates, and other organizational goals and changes.
• Provides input to the design and implementation of new corporate training programs including development of curriculum material, user guides and job aids.
• Deliver EHR and Practice Management (eCW) training to end-users with varying levels of computer literacy, in a variety of ways such as: Classroom instruction, one-on-one, and roaming support, for all staff and providers.
• Responsible for keeping current with system changes and enhancements to ensure a thorough knowledge of the clinical information systems as they relate to both physicians and clinical staff.
• Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement in support of eCW training initiatives and serves as resource and offers guidance to units through on-site field support to confirm systems are used efficiently and as trained.
• Help support staff retention and employee satisfaction by facilitating competency achievement assessments and skills validation programs for end users as well as develop training documentation, outlines, and programs.
• Provides support during go-live for new sites and serves as the main point of contact and application subject matter expert for the units during implementation process; on-site go-live support and post implementation phase, including optimization.
• Assess feedback from training programs and continually modify the curriculum to better meet the needs of the learners. Report on the effectiveness of the training solutions.
• Suggests, updates and refines training program components based on user and organizational needs.
• Perform chart audits for assigned regional units, provide feedback and help with the development of action plans to improve clinical documentation for compliance.
• Cross trained to support Nurse Educators on various projects as needed.
• Other projects and duties as needed to meet the needs of the department.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or experience in lieu of education.
• Must have 3 years or more demonstrated experience facilitating classroom, on-line and one-on-one training.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting strongly preferred.
• EHR (eClinical Works) go-live implementation and super-user experience preferred.
• Must be able to troubleshoot basic PC issues.
• Competency in utilizing computer programs for developing instructional materials, tracking related data and communicating information
• Excellent communicator with ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers and clients.
