Title: Director, Systems Implementation and Support
The Director, Systems Implementation & Support will lead a team of business analysts and project managers to drive the integration of business objectives with technology.
The Director is responsible for the overall planning, management and execution of technology projects for the implementation of a core insurance system.  He/she will also bring operational leadership over the design, development, support and maintenance of the system while working closely with senior leaders and the vendor to develop and execute agreed upon project priorities.  This responsibility includes lead a team to develop the scope of the work documents and project plans, and effectively manage project roles, resource requirements and deliverables for project implementations and production support.  He/she will ensure effective communication and relationships with all partners throughout the business.
What You’ll Do
• Perform project planning and resource allocation to meet project milestones. Resources include internal staff and external consultants.
• Lead the production support team to properly identify severity and urgency of incidents in a way that minimizes business interruptions and maximizes company’s ability to serve our external customers.
• Develop excellent understanding of business stakeholder’s needs and specific requirements around Claims, Underwriting, Billing, Finance and other support organizations such as Agency Management, Product and Risk Management.
• Maintain regular interactions with business stakeholders to ensure a unified technology roadmap that consider new product implementations as well as production support mini-projects.
• Lead the tactical development and implementation of all insurance core system projects.
• Assist and oversee on-going project implementation progress to ensure efforts of people from appropriate departments are fully coordinated and engaged with project plans and timeframes.
• Develop mitigation strategies, needs analysis and potential alternate solutions to remove obstacles and balance tight deadlines with risk.
• Serve as the main contact for managing core system vendor relationship in regards to system functionality and data.
• Lead a team in developing and modifying existing processes and procedures in support of all department functions.
• Lead the production support team in implementing system enhancements and changes as prioritized by all business stakeholders.
• Oversee key projects and maintain/create project plans.
• Coaching, mentoring and leadership of team members through establishing performance goals and reviews.
• Coordinate and review all AD Hoc Analysis and reporting requests.
• Partner with all departments to understand and interpret their reporting and analytical needs and translate those needs into analytical tools and reports.
• Advise the business on any system issues.
• Work to identify future business needs of the company and work with team to map out requirements and implement change.
• Review scope/requirement documents for system changes/issues/enhancements and provide guidance to team when needed.
• Guide the team in system testing of all enhancements/changes/production issues.
• Participate in budget process and create and maintain budget for department and team.
• Understand the concept of agile methodologies and lead the team on how to adapt and embrace it going forward.
What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required.
Experience: At least 5-7 Years of technology and/or BA experience, preferably with a P&C insurance carrier.
Skills & Knowledge:
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in policy administration system replacement and implementation.
• At least 10 years of experience in IT related management positions, with a demonstrated record of career advancement as indicated by increasing levels of responsibility.
• Experience using technology to help operating areas in an insurance company create profit; a strong systems analyst background.
• At least 5 years of experience in a project/program management position.
• Experience in hosting services and servers; local and wide-area networks, and Web-based computing platforms.
• Experience with business requirements documentation and software testing & quality processes.
• Experience automated testing tools highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience motivating and leading staff towards accomplished goals and metrics, i.e. incident resolution.
• Experience completing projects successfully and on time.
• Strong problem solving and attention to detail.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Access.
Your Environment
Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.
Travel: Minimum, as required.
