Position Title: Network Engineer - VSAT
Classification: Exempt
Status: Must be authorized to live and work in the USA.

Reports To: Project Manager
Working Hours: 8 – 5, M – F; may be required to work other shifts to meet customer needs
Location: Tampa. FL Metro Area
Duration: 12 months

Summary/Objective: The Network Engineer will provide technical support operations to Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) network customers in North America. These customers use VSAT for both narrowband and broadband applications. Your role will be focused on resolving complex, IP network problems on the VSAT Network and providing high quality service to the customer. You will also coordinate with off-shore deliver centers to provide the best quality service to our customers.
Essential Functions:
• Provide Tier 2 technical support and resolve escalation issues for customers
• Support upgrade, provisioning, other professional services
• Coordinate with off-shore delivery centers to remotely provision network equipment and wireless devices for customers
• Accept customer calls, open trouble tickets and resolve network problems
• Coordinate with multiple 3rd parties involved and deliver end to end process management
• Provide support for ITIL service operation processes
• Identify key issues and gaps and work with engineering and delivery teams to resolve them.
Other Functions:
• Integrate new technologies into the network as they are delivered
• Collaborate with other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Identify and facilitate new business growth opportunities.
• Produce and present project documentation including design, implementation and testing in line with standards
• Deliver high quality of service by working closely with the customer on issues
• Analyze data collected from the customer’s environment against standards and provide them with innovative solutions
• Optimize network availability and stability
• Become the trusted advisor, building a solid, long-term relationship with your customers through providing technical support and solving customer issues
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
• 24 X 7 Network Operations Center environment
• Will primarily work from client premises, may work remote
• Potentially work extra hours on short notice
• Work under aggressive project timelines
Required Education/Experience and Competencies:
• BSCS or equivalent required. (May consider equivalent experience)
• Five years related experience providing network support directly to customers
• CCNP (preferred; may consider experience in lieu of certification)
• Solid understanding of routing and switching, and preferably automation technologies
• Strong knowledge of MPLS, BGP and OSPF networks, and Mobility requirements
• Strong knowledge of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) network
• Possess strong customer interaction, troubleshooting, and consulting skills
• Explain complex network operational concepts in easy-to-understand language
• Proficient in customer facing discussions as well as the technologies listed above
• Ability and experience debugging and troubleshooting complex network problems
• Routing and Switching experience with Cisco IOS
