POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Director of Ataxia Division in the Department of Neurology. The Research Support Specialist or Research Licensed Practical Nurse will perform a wide variety of administrative support duties. This position will participate in specialty clinic, coordinating with clinic staff and physicians to evaluate patients that might be consider for research studies. Collect, analyzes and performs quality assurance of study data. Monitors overall clinical study to insure that quality control measures are in compliance with protocol. Actively participates in research study meetings to discuss progress/status of study.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position will participate in specialty clinic, coordinating with clinic staff and physicians to evaluate patients that might be consider for research studies. Collect, analyzes and performs quality assurance of study data. Monitors overall clinical study to insure that quality control measures are in compliance with protocol. Actively participates in research study meetings to discuss progress/status of study. Ensures consistent interpretation and adherence to protocols at all stages of trials by ream members. Recommends changes in protocols to improve quality of data gathering or overall study. Oversees the ordering, dispensing and maintenance of supplies and medication for the research study.
• Monitors and schedules all study patient appointments for USF clinic and works closely with scheduling department for approval of study patient subjects. Assists with retrieving study subject's medical history prior to visit. Assist with the planning of annual FARA ball, and CME offerings with the Ataxia division.
• Screens internal and outside mail and screens all telephone messages for the Clinical Research Nurse and Faculty for the Ataxia division. Composes correspondence, reports and obtains signatures as required for the division. Work with minimal supervision with planning, organizing and coordinating multiple work assignments and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and effectively and professionally communicate sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Plans, prioritizes and schedules meetings and appointments for the director of the Ataxia division's calendar. Prepares Dr. Zesiewicz's business travel.  Reviews research invoices, research budget and submitting study status logs in a timely manner. Orders supplies for the division.
• Conducts nursing duties that include IV preparation, IV administration and monitoring of infusions with appropriate reaction management. Participates in ongoing education about IV drug administration procedures (only if an LPN Research Nurse).
• Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office or administrative support or in research support.
• College education may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
• One to two years Clinical Research experience.
• Bachelor's degree and two or more years of related experience.
