Joseph Spine Institute seeks an experienced Physician Support Specialist ( non-clinical Medical Assistant with orthopaedic/spine background) who thrives in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, and provides a broad range of efficient administrative assistance to an assigned Physician.
The Physician Support Specialist travels with the assigned Physician between Tampa, Safety Harbor, and Riverview, Florida locations and maintains effective and organized systems to ensure effective scheduling and timely patient flow. Provides a smooth and pleasant patient experience and ensures physician’s office schedule is organized and efficient.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinates Physician’s schedule to maximize efficiency between clinics, surgeries, meetings, and conference calls and administratively assists to keep Provider on task to ensure smooth workflow and continuity of appointments
· Communicates effectively and flexibly responds to changing demands.
· Triages telephone messages and returns calls to provide timely answers to patients/physicians/pharmacies/attorneys, etc.
· Collaborates with coworkers, management, patients, visitors, and Physicians to achieve Practice goals.
· Rooms and interviews patients and makes appointment and scheduling adjustments as required.
· Non-clinically assists Physician with ancillary administrative tasks.
· Addresses scheduling, authorization, and billing issues with an appropriate sense of urgency to ensure prompt and successful resolutions.
· Performs other non-clinical duties as directed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma
· Minimum 2-3 years related spine experience working in an orthopedic spine or chiropractic office, pain management center, clinic, or hospital
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required.
· Intermediate experience with AllScripts EHR and Microsoft Suite
· Medical terminology as it applies to the neck and spine
· Provides excellent patient care, exceptional customer service, and practices professional telephone and face-to-face etiquette
· Utilizes good judgment, willingness to learn, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
· Remains calm under pressure and manages time efficiently in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
· Superior attention to detail, accurate written skills, and concise verbal communication skills
