Reports To: Chief Administrative Office of Owensboro Catholic Schools
Primary Function: The Controller is responsible in planning, directing and coordinating the financial accounting and reporting activities of the Owensboro Catholic Schools
(OCS)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, Abilities and Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
 Preferred practicing Roman Catholic;
 Five to seven years of professional accounting experience;
 Knowledge of non-for profit accounting;
 Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices, accounting principles, investments, and financial reporting;
 Excellent organization, interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills;
 Working knowledge of information technology, including personal computers and Microsoft Office Software;
 Ability to maintain confidential information;
 Ability to relate to the variety of persons who are part of the OCS staff;
 The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
 Oversee all aspects of accounting and financial management;
 Oversee the maintenance of all accounting systems;
 Review bank accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliations;
 Supervise, direct and review the work of the accounting staff;
 Manage the monthly/quarterly/annual financial closing process and the preparation of monthly financial statements;
 Perform online banking; transfers, payroll direct deposit and collections;
 Prepare (and review) balance sheets account reconciliations;
 Review monthly receipts account transactions;
 Review and approve all monthly, quarterly & annual GJ entries;
 Direct cash management including cash and investment management and reporting;
 Prepare and develop the annual budget;
 Maintain an organized set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions;
 Resolve complex accounting issues;
 Remain up to date on nonprofit accounting and audit best practices;
 Safeguard assets and assure accurate recording of all transactions through proper internal control;
 Provide financial analyses as needed;
 Develop tools and systems to provide financial and operational information to the Owensboro Catholic School’s CAO, Education Council and Finance
Committee;
 Perform other tasks as directed by the OCS CAO

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
