Job Description
Summary describing the general function and purpose of the position:
• Tooling Specialist will apply knowledge of mold design and construction to the fabrication, conditioning, modification, repair and maintenance of injection molds, gauges, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures. Will diagnose, correct, anticipate and prevent tool related problems. Works with Technical Lead– Molding, Engineering, Sr. Process Technicians, Process Technicians, Set-Up Technicians, Mold Cleaner and Tooling Specialists to maintain reliable and production-ready tools.  Operates tool room machinery and maintains documentation. Provides tooling specialist technical advice and support on all aspects of Tool design and manufacturing. Contributes to assessing and determining the priorities and work plans of the Tool department and toolmakers. Responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area, ensuring the tool room is a safe environment in line with health, safety and environmental requirements.
Key Work Performed: Summary of specific tasks and responsibilities of the position:
• Building, repairing, and trouble-shooting and correcting mold related problems.
• Performing preventative maintenance and documents accordingly.
• Dissemble complex molds for repair and cleaning; rework details as needed and or assigned.
• Analyze and correct complex mold malfunction to assure quality production.
• Changeover molds, fit and assemble parts into mold cavities and verify dimensions, alignment, and clearance.
• Operate precision measurement devices.
• Operating machinery (EDM, CNC, Mills, Grinders, Lathe, etc.).
• Operating crane/hoist
• Performing other duties as needed.
• Adhering to safety rules and ergonomic practices.
• Continuously promotes safety, addresses safety concerns.
• Keeping work areas clear and free of debris.
• Keeping watchful eye on manufacturing processes and reporting problems and/or concerns.
• Maintains a good communication.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
• Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Experience:
• Must have a minimum of five years of experience in mold making and mold repairing and tooling, knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, micrometers, comparator and shop machinery such as lathes, mills and grinders. Electric pallet jack, and crane/hoist experience preferred but not necessary. CNC and EDM experience preferred but not necessary. Experience for programing CNC set-ups, welding and polishing preferred but not necessary.
Knowledge:
• Must possess mathematical skills (Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using common numbers, common fractions, and decimals.)  Must be familiar with conversion and use of tooling and mechanical equipment. Must be able to demonstrate computer knowledge – ability to work with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Must be familiar with programming software such as SURFCAM or Similar industry software.
Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to analyze, recommend and perform necessary tool repairs and preventive maintenance. Provides approximate time necessary to complete task or project from start to completion. Must be able to effectively communicate in English both written and verbally. Possess strong mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, must be able to stand, sit, walk, stoop and bend for extended periods of time and must be able to work in a fast paced environment.  Must be able to work required shift and overtime and have necessary personal tools to perform assignments.
