Department Profile
The ICUs include Trauma, Neuroscience, Surgical, Medical, Vascular, Cardiothoracic, Coronary Care, Burn, Adult ICU Step Down, Pediatrics, and Neonatal Units. TGH is a Level I Trauma Center, and a certified Regional Burn Center that excels in the care of critically ill patients.
Job Summary
Under general supervision and according to established nursing standards, policies, procedures and professional guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients. The Burn Clinician oversees inpatient and aftercare for our burn patients. The Burn Clinician works with the trauma registrars to maintain the trauma database for burn patients (adult and pediatrics) and hold regular morbidity and mortality meetings to review cases with the interdisciplinary team The Burn Clinician is responsible for all loop closure related to these meetings.  The Burn Clinician is also responsible for tracking all PI projects on the unit and keeping an updated CPIT schedule to discuss ongoing and new initiatives and to effectively track their outcomes.  The Burn Clinician is responsible for tracking infections on the unit and working with infection prevention to minimize risks.  Aftercare responsibilities include organizing regular meetings and events for our Burn Survivors Connect support group and promoting the SOARs program for current inpatients.  The Burn Clinician works with Tampa Fire to host our annual kids camp for children who have survived burn injuries, Camp Hopetake.  Community education with local EMS agencies, nursing students and community outreach events is also a role of the Burn Clinician. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Required Skills
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; BSN required; licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida; Current CCRN, CEN or CRRN preferred. 2-3 years ICU/BICU experience required. Must have recent burn and ICU experience in patient care and be able to take patient assignments when needed and be a resource for the interdisciplinary team.
