The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for an EDS Fleet Coordinator for the Emergency Disaster Services Warehouse located in Tampa, Florida.
Job Summary
Performs routine repairs and maintenance of disaster equipment, and vehicles; Qualified, licensed and drives Salvation Army CDL-A large vehicles to transports equipment and supplies in emergency situations and non-emergency situations. Assists with incoming inventory and other warehouse duties. Performs a variety of clerical work necessary as Fleet Coordinator and CDL-A driver.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of general building maintenance practices and procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of The Salvation Army structure, processes and protocols for day to day operations.
Ability to plan and prioritizes day to day activities of the EDS Warehouse and Fleet Maintenance.
Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions.
Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings, vehicles and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and community contacts.
Ability to maintain a valid and current CDL-A license for driving all Salvation Army tractor trailers and other vehicles.
Ability to quickly deploy in emergency situations, remaining deployed for a period of up to four concurrent weeks for conducting emergency supply operations as directed.
Ability to gain and keep up to date the necessary certifications required by the position as stated above.
Ability to learn and develop in disaster management.
Skill in safely operating all assigned vehicles and equipment.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Four years’ experience driving large vehicles.
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver's License with valid and current CDL Class A endorsement.
Valid and Current Forklift Operator Permit or ability to gain within first 30 days on job.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (50 lbs. or more) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently.
Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, possible snow, heat or other discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
