Summary of Duties:
The Community Reinvestment Act/Compliance Specialist works to align the organizations policies, procedures and business practices with regulatory requirements. Collaboration will be key as you communicate with other compliance staff and team members in the identification, measurement and monitoring of compliance risks. You will participate in implementing and maintaining compliance risk assessment processes that provide a systematic method for evaluating the banks effectiveness in complying with applicable federal and state consumer protection laws, regulations and related internal policies and procedures. You will flex your ability to collect, analyze and communicate information in completing risk assessments, identifying and quantifying compliance risk considering the size, level and complexity of German American Banks operations, financial products and service offerings, and the delivery systems, and so much more!
What You'll Do:
• The Daily Grind - You will assist the Community Reinvestment Act Officer in several ways. This includes conforming German Americans policies, procedures and business practices with the federal and state statutes and regulations related to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and Fair Lending regulation, as well as providing support during audits and regulatory exams. Identifying and utilizing your resources will be essential as you develop and maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all federal and state consumer protection laws, regulations, and policies related to the Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending and other applicable laws and regulation. You will use sophisticated data base and analysis tools to measure performance of CRA and Fair Lending Programs and conduct periodic monitoring for CRA, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Fair Lending purposes.
• You're Part of a Team - You are a member of the Risk Management Team. This role offers amazing insight into the world of regulations and laws and the impact they have on the banking business.
• And you have to be able to juggle - Multiple and conflicting priorities will come up under specific time constraints. In concert with your leader and other team members, you have to be quick to act when issues arise.
What it Takes:
• Bachelors Degree in Business field and/or a minimum of 5 years banking experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including report development and presentation skills.
• Excellent reading, comprehension and problem solving skills.
• Outstanding work ethic, attention to detail and ability to work well individually and in teams.
• Solid reasoning, analytical, technical, mathematical and language abilities
• Ability to multi-task duties
Bonus Points:
• Experience in retail lending origination, underwriting or quality control, data analytics, consumer protection banking laws, regulations and policies, analyzing/testing compliance with CRA and Fair Lending
• Proven ability to effectively read and interpret laws, regulations and policies, and a basic understanding of internal controls.
• Subject matter expertise in fair lending, mortgage and consumer protection laws and regulations, including ECOA, HMDA, CRA, and composite Fair Lending guidance.
