The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, Florida is seeking a dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable Informatics Nurse to support all aspects of nursing practice, including direct delivery of care, administration, education, and research. Tampa VA Hospital is a complex, highly affiliated medical center, providing primary to quaternary care services to Veterans and active duty service members.

Responsibilities
The Informatics Nurse facilitates the integration of Nursing data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in support of patient care and nursing practice with the goal to improve population the health. Incumbent serves as facility subject matter expert for clinical informatics and the electronic health record (EHR) software solutions. The individual functions as consultant, developer, coordinator, and educator for Nursing Informatics solutions. Incumbent integrates ergonomics and human-computer interaction (HCI) principles into design, development, selection, implementation and evaluation of informatics solutions. Systematically determines the social, legal, regulatory, and ethical impact of informatics solutions for Nursing and health care.
Responsible for acquiring, interpreting, and analyzing data to evaluate clinical practice resulting in improved outcomes.
Serves as Project Manager/ Facility Liaison for special projects and software implementation as assigned.
Supports Nursing Informatics sponsored/supported applications including CPRS, BCMA, Bed Management Systems (BMS), Interactive Patient Care i.e. Get Well Network®, Document Storage Solutions (DSS) software, National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), AcuStaf Scheduling Software, Vocera, PICIS®, and other applications supporting Nursing processes and/or organizational systems to improve patient care outcomes.
Monitors Nursing System processes and resources to anticipate and identify unique and shared employee, unit, and organizational needs.
Serves as Nursing Informatics representative on medical center committees, task forces and multidisciplinary teams.
Provides tier one technical support for Nursing staff.
Demonstrates exceptional skills in work planning, observation, dependability, and communication.
As Automated Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC), troubleshoots computer software and hardware issues, enter work orders; use local facility Electronic Permission Access System (EPAS) system to request initial computer access for new user and menu changes for existing staff.
Protects sensitive data from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or deletion and follow applicable regulations regarding access to computer account codes in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy.
Participates in the development, modification and creation of policies, procedures, manuals, guidelines, minutes, memoranda and training materials.
Utilizes adult learning principles for developing and delivering educational content to new hires and existing staff. Facilitate and direct educational activities related to clinical software applications.
Utilizes and applies Systems Redesign principles, Six Sigma methodology and, Lean Thinking to project management tasks, development, enhancement, and implementation of Nursing documentation tools, and evaluation and modification of Nursing workflows.
Serves as Personal Identify Verification (PIV) card Issuance Manager and Sponsor ensuring compliance with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12.
Demonstrates professional behavior, good interpersonal relationships and effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
Incumbent may serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR). As COR incumbent, will analyze market trends, serve as liaison between contractors and the government contracting officer, and help ensure successful contract completion consistent with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and its supplements.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with potential requirement to work off-tours and weekends to educate/train staff and provide support.

Preferred Experience:
• Master's Degree in Nursing Informatics or related field
• Acute Care Nursing Clinical experience
• Minimum of 3 years Nursing Informatics experience
• Certification in Informatics from a national informatics certifying
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow-Belt or higher certification
• Experience in EHR software design, implementation and optimization
• Working knowledge of process improvement and health informatics
• Expertise with Microsoft 365 suite of products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Project, Planner, and OneNote.

Additional information
Annual leave shall accrue for full-time Nurses, and Nurse Anesthetists at the rate of 8 hours for each full biweekly pay period.
