Join our Environmental Resource Permit Bureau
and make a lasting impact. Here is your opportunity to assist our Environmental Scientists in the review of completed wetland impacts and mitigation construction by reviewing records or "as-built" plans, and conducting on-site inspections of completed projects to determine compliance with the permitted design. The District offers the Student Internship Program to provide students with real work experience and specific hands-on knowledge related to the chosen course of study.

Compensation: $13.99 hourly Essential Functions
• Ability to conduct site inspections of wetland mitigation areas
• Ability to organize files of record documents and use word processing and spreadsheet software
• Ability to review wetland monitoring reports and document on-site conditions of existing mitigation areas
• Ability to review aerial photographs and information on GIS/ArcMap
• Ability to draft correspondence for compliance ES staff

Most work is conducted in a standard office environment. This position requires the ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Must be able to operate a District vehicle for two hours or more at a time. May be exposed to extremes in temperature and humidity, as well as a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks. Work environments vary by assigned business unit.
Required Credentials for Environmental Compliance Student Intern
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students

• Valid driver’s license
Preferred Credentials for Environmental Compliance Student Intern
• Experience interpreting and understanding engineering/environmental plans
• Experience with time management and project deadlines
• Experience communicating effectively with staff and the regulated public
• Preferred Degrees: Ecology, Biology, Environmental Policy or related degree
• Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate
Additional Details
This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week, between Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, out of the Tampa, FL office. Schedule is contingent upon the decision of the hiring manager and the successful candidate. Student internship positions are not eligible for insured medical benefits.

Yes. Some travel, using District vehicle, within District's coverage area.
