Pay averages for full time employment run $23,500 to $26,500 annual. This my include an additional $1.00 per hour on weekends. If you work as a PRN (as needed) DSP, you will not have a permanent schedule and shifts offered will vary based on the needs of the agency. Starting pay for a PRN DSP is $11.75 per hours, with an additional $1.00 per hour on weekends.

Job Description:
Direct Support Professionals are home healthcare staff who are directly responsible for assisting individuals as prescribed within the Person-Centered Individualized Support Plan (PCISP), provide quality care to individuals, and to increase quality of life in keeping with Compass’ vision, mission and core values. Consistent attendance is a general qualification for this job.
Provide quality direct care of individuals in their homes.
a. Ensure that the safety and health of individuals is maintained through continuous monitoring
b. Maintain highest standard of grooming and hygiene: bathing, toileting, oral care, shaving, dressing, grooming
c. Provide transportation in accordance with the individual’s social, medical and general developmental needs
Prepare meals in accordance with dietary plans and encourage successful completion of the individual’s dining objectives.
Provide quality direct care of the individual’s home - Ensure the surroundings of the individual remain clean and in good repair through daily cleaning, laundry, testing smoke and CO2 alarms and maintaining appropriate water temperatures.
Provide quality medical care of the individual.
a. Understand and deliver quality care for individuals in compliance with the PCISP and Compass policies and procedures
Administer medications: oral, rectal, sublingual, inhaled
Monitor health related issues such as dysphasia, seizures, diabetes, etc.
Assist with medical appointments
b. Understand and provide support for maladaptive behaviors including: self-injurious behaviors (SIB), physical aggression, spitting, biting, pinching, property destruction, verbal aggression
c. Charting and documenting all services provided
Maintain individual’s records and other documentation per established procedures
Timeliness, completeness and accuracy of oral and written communications
Provide professional internal and external relationships, cooperation and partnership with all Compass employees, managers and individuals receiving services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Willingness to work a diverse schedule based on service participant need and preference
Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing at least 75 pounds
Be in possession of an Operators Driver’s License
Be in possession of a reliable and properly registered vehicle with auto insurance in your name
Be able to transport clients if and when the shift allows requires it
