# The Department Machine of Machine Learning at Moffitt Cancer Center has an opening for an Machine Learning Engineer in a non-tenure track full time position. The staff engineer will be joining a vibrant environment of investigators and researchers in developing new tools for machine learning applications in clinical/translational research to accelerate cancer discoveries and improve cancer care. The department has recently acquired an DGX-A100 machine for development and we#ll be combining this with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for deployment. Position Highlights: Development and maintenance of software tools for machine learning applications Administration of computational infrastructure and management of databases Assist in writing and preparing manuscripts and grants section related to software engineering and for a variety of research studies. Generates scientific sections of grant applications with appropriate guidance, including preliminary data. Manages the scientific advancement of multiple studies simultaneously. # The Ideal Candidate: Demonstrated experience in software development and preferably for machine learning applications collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment. In-depth knowledge of software development, computer languages, databases, and computing infrastructure for machine and deep learning applications how epidemiological research is conducted. A commitment to reproducible and open science workflows. A critical, independent, and creative thinker. A professional, personable, organized individual with research experience in the academic setting. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Grant writing experience is highly desired. # Responsibilities: Develop professional level software tools for machine/ deep learning application for cancer research Administer computing infrastructure and manages databases Participates in the planning, implementation and conduct of software tool research projects in collaboration with the overseeing team members. This includes contribution to preparation of grants, clinical protocols, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, data analysis, and daily management activities. Interacts closely with Investigators and their collaborators in consortium settings. Trains new staff and serves as a resource to other projects involving software development within the department under the Investigator#s direction. May work individually or may have significant oversight over other less experienced research personnel. Assists in planning and developing research projects within the laboratory under the Investigator#s direction. Maintains computer research skills, and acquires new ones as necessary. Limited degree of supervision is required for the analysis of data and documentation of results. Maintains membership and regularly attends appropriate professional associations, conferences, workshops, lectures, and seminars as supported by the overseeing Investigators.# Maintains QA program of software tools, which includes: maintaining familiarity with cutting edge machine learning software and informatics tools. laboratory trends and techniques. Minimum Education: Minimum of a BS, MS or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics,# machine learning or related fields.# Minimum Experience: Bachelor#s degree with 2 years of experience, Master#s degree with 1 year of experience, PhD with none.# Preferred experience:# demonstrated experience in software development and preferably for machine learning applications; a critical, independent, and creative thinker; a professional, personable, organized individual with research experience in the academic setting
