The Offices of Residence Life and Career Services at The University of Tampa have a position for a Part-Time Staff Assistant I. This position will be responsible for assisting with housing assignments and career services data and reports and will report to the Associate Director of Housing Operations in Residence Life and the Manager of Employer Development in the Office of Career Services. As a member of the Office of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of diversity and inclusion, collaboration, personal responsibility, professionalism and community and citizenship. The work of this position will intentionally align with strategic priorities to advance the mission and vision of student affairs which results in student learning and support for students to grow as global citizens.
Responsibilities
1. Assist with entering and maintaining accurate housing assignment and meal plan data, including related financial data in Residence by Symplicity.
2. Speak and meet with residents and parents as needed to discuss the residence life processes and procedures.
3. Manage Residence Life weekly reporting and distribution to campus partners.
4. Support the university job and internship listing database (Handshake) via vetting of future employer partners and jobs/internship postings.
5. Propose initiatives to address student service satisfaction and continuous improvements through a variety of mediums including online survey assessment.
6. Participate in marketing and promotional activities through tabling, phone, email, video conferencing, and social media support.
7. Assist with day of, large scale event duties as needed to support program quality, customer service and execution.
8. Attend trainings and fully engage in learning and utilizing university-wide technology, specifically Workday, and other department specific technology platforms.
9. This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
10. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma required, some college preferred.
2. Must have basic Microsoft skills: word processing, spreadsheets, databases.
3. Must have good customer service and people skills.
4. Ability to work within a team and independently.
5. Demonstrated written and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy, including being able to maintain confidentiality when necessary.
7. Strong organizational skills; solution-oriented problem solving.
8. Ability to wear PPE, including masks and gloves, as needed.
9. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Residence by Symplicity, Handshake and Microsoft Office.
10. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Pay Rate
$14.87 per hour
Work Schedule
Part-time schedule not to exceed 29 hours per week/1000 hours per year. Actual hours approximately 19 hours per week.
