Full Job Description
Position Purpose
The position is responsible for telephonic donor authorizations from the Authorizing Party in a timely and consistent manner and completing the Donor Risk Assessment interview questionnaire with the appropriate person to assist in determination of donor eligibility. The position is also responsible for gathering clinical information on all hospital referrals from the referral facilities and donation partner. Schedule is overnight 7p-7a. Shift Differential included.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of LEITR and exhibits a personal commitment to eye and tissue donation
• Provides appropriate On-Call availability as needed and will respond to the office within 60 minutes of being activated.
• Responsible for the processing of incoming eye and tissue referrals from the answering service, partner organizations and hospitals to include but not limited to the following:
• Completing medical screenings promptly
• Assessment of donor eligibility
• Completion of necessary referral paperwork
• Data entry of referral outcome
• Dispatch Recovery Coordinators in a timely and efficient manner
• Accurately transcribe information from the phone call into the donor referral tracking system
• Handle inbound and outbound calls during assigned shifts and process accordingly
• Pertinent information is passed along to Recovery Coordinator and/or Directors as necessary
• Ensure requests from Recovery and Research departments are fulfilled as needed
• Completion of all tasks listed on the shift summary report are assigned and accomplished by shifts end
• Coordinate the recovery process as applicable to the case such as Medical Examiner release, transportation of the donor if needed and recovery location arrangements
• Maintain appropriate quality system practices during all aspects of referral completion, donor screening, the authorization/disclosure process and while completing the Donor Risk Assessment Interview questionnaire process
• Required attendance at staff meetings, trainings and/or in-services deemed necessary by immediate manager or Ocular/Tissue Services senior leadership.
• Follow up on assigned projects; and
• May perform other duties as requested by management
