Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies , all over the world.
The Engineering Technician will be responsible for providing site inspection and assisting in answering Requests for Information (RFI) from construction contractors and determine their constructability conformance. This is to support the military working dog facility project in Pohnpei Island, PSM.
Key responsibilities:
• Provide coordination of the construction quality management program for new projects
• Provide and review recommendations toward approval of contractor quality control plan
• Provide daily production reports as deemed necessary
• Attend selective quality control, preparatory and initial meetings, and monitor three-phase checklists for accuracy and thoroughness
• Provide relevant remarks on Government Quality Assurance (QA) reports (or in the identified section of Contractor’s Quality Control (QC) reports), particularly on critical, definable features of work included
• Validate quantity, condition, and approval of materials on-site prior to installations
• Provide evaluations of actual accomplishments based on project milestones.
• Coordinate support to review and witness successful testing and commissioning/certification of critical systems.
• Assure quality workmanship in accordance with specifications and industry standards on concrete/masonry/stucco/building, envelope/structural steel/bolting/welding, and other building materials/structural systems, as required
• Attend/witness selected tests and review all applicable test reports and results
• Provide assessment on the existing facility based on the latest codes for all engineering disciplines (structural, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, etc)
• Provide technical assessment report on the inspected facility for all engineering aspect
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications To be successful in the role:
• Technical and practical knowledge and experience (at least 5 years) as an engineering technician, superintendent, or quality control/quality assurance manager or representative
• Demonstrated sound understanding of construction concepts, principles, and practices applicable to civil, mechanical, electrical, and/or environmental projects and the design, layout, and supervision of construction operations
• Thorough knowledge of construction practices and methods and construction management skills as demonstrated through relevant construction and/or construction management experience
• Demonstrated ability to monitor construction projects to a successful and timely completion
• Multi-tasker person
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledgeable in basic Engineering Software such as AutoCAD and MS Project
• Proficient in English both oral and written
• Engineering Certificate is an advantage
• Certificate in HSE is an advantage
