Role and Responsibilities
Summary
The Director of Program Management and Customer Service will direct, plan, administer, and coordinate the activities of the Simulation Products organization. Supports and executes policies, goals, and budgeted financial objectives established by the Business Unit President and the Board of Directors and will be measured by financial objectives, key performance indicators, and performance objectives. The incumbent will provide vision and inspiration to the PM and Customer Service organization under their leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsibility for delivering simulation products program commitments within established budgets and schedules
• Responsibility for delivering quality products that meet customer requirements and functionality needs.
• Responsible for developing, managing, and achieving simulation products forecasted revenue, in excess of $200M, and the associated gross margin.
• Responsible for customer negotiations of price and terms and conditions for simulation products programs.
• Oversees the PM and Customer Services budget to ensure cost effective and efficient usage.
• Plan, direct and control activities of the operation to accomplish budgeted financial objectives and prepare short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.
• Responsible for customer satisfaction by ensuring adherence to contractual requirements for product quality and schedule performance.
• Responsible for supporting business development with customers.  Measured against order intake objectives for both sustaining and growth in simulation products.
• Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
• Actively contributes to the development of the business unit/region growth strategic plan
• Creates and oversees the execution of strategies, policies and operating plans and goals for the organization.
• Anticipates long-term capacity/demand and ensures proper planning and development of strategies to minimize risks and take advantage of opportunities.
• Identifies trends of escalated issues or recurring problems and develops improved cross-functional processes to resolve those problems.
• Regularly interacts with senior executives within related departments (e.g., Engineering, Training Services, Operations, Finance and BD/Marketing) to influence business decisions of material impact.
• Develops and seeks to improve performance metrics for productivity and product quality.
• Monitors efficiency of engineering operations; ensures identification and development of cost reduction and improved efficiency opportunities.
• Ensures department processes are CMMI, AS9100, and ISO compliant.
• Oversees all major projects/activities within a specified region in line with CAE’s mission, values and strategies
• Establishes work share arrangements spanning regions across multiple business units
• Establishes and assures adherence to the business unit key performance indicators (KPI)
• Is accountable for multiple departmental resource allocation and budgets
• Direct and approve project proposals, engineering estimates of hours and research and development reports.
• Assesses risks and potential problems, and proactively finds solutions to ensure success.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all internal and external management levels.   Consult with functional managers and program personnel to develop cost saving and risk reduction plans as they affect major acquisitions of goods and services.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for planning, budgeting, coordinating, and controlling the activities of functional working groups as required.  Substantial cross-functional team leadership ability is required.  The position has oversight for professional and administrative personnel. Multiple direct and dotted line reports.
• Provides operational leadership and mentoring to the program management organization under the role.
• Champions cross-functional efforts to improve processes and to ensure high product quality.
• Creates a culture of excellence and high performance; drives the program management organization to excel at delivering on key commitments.
• Develops successors and talent pipeline, drives corporate culture and leads employee management activities.
• Ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in technical or business discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the technical area of flight simulation and/or Program Management with a history of successfully assuming progressively increasing responsibilities, must include extensive DoD experience. Flight Simulation industry experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to foster teamwork while solving difficult challenges.
• Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex technical and contractual documents.
• Possess complex financial managerial skills to include budgetary and proposal activities.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
• Ability to write complex technical and contractual documents.
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Must display tact and self discipline necessary to interface effectively with customers, military personnel, vendors and all levels of management, employees and the general public.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
• Working knowledge of CMMI, AS9100, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and complex technical product knowledge.
• Possesses a high personal profile and a strong professional reputation and network among military aerospace customers and their representatives
• Demonstrated track record of successful management in major corporate or military programs, both individually and as the leader of or major contributor to a team
• Understanding of military protocol and custom is preferred
• Prior experience in leading cross-functional teams
• Excellent problem solving, situation assessment and conflict resolution are required.
• Must have sound judgment to deal with dynamic situations, decide upon a course of action and implement swift resolution for closure.
• Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks.
• Ability to document complex technical assessments for effective communication across the organization, customers and suppliers.
• Ability to motivate and facilitate effective change.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations • PMP Certification preferred.
Security Responsibilities
Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
• Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

• Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and operate a personal computer.
• Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally and handle essential duties and responsibilities worldwide.

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Work will be performed in an office environment.
• Occasional work in factory environment, including in Simulators.
