AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty in communities across the country. Through a partnership with VISTA, Metropolitan Ministries’ goal is to generate resources to expand housing, outreach, and food programs that support our mission of caring for the homeless and those at-risk of becoming homeless. In the wake of COVID-19, Metropolitan Ministries is building a virtual platform to provide our suite of self-sufficiency classes to the community at large. This virtual platform, called Virtual Uplift U, will allow MM to provide employment, education, financial literacy, budgeting, tenant rights/advocacy, parenting, emotional management and health/nutrition classes to an additional 3,000 households annually. The Virtual Education Coordinator VISTA will research virtual education platforms, develop virtual courses, build resources to help MM staff and clients utilize virtual platform, and create a marketing strategy to generate community awareness of the project.
Service Term: 365 days
Days/Hours: Full time; this position is 40 hours/week.
Member Duties:
• Guide the virtualization of 10 classes in the areas of employment, education, financial literacy, budgeting, tenant rights/advocacy, parenting, emotional management or health/nutrition.
• Research how educational classes are transforming into virtual platforms. Research the training methods for other organizations that have converted to virtual platforms. Develop a process and best practice strategies for MM staff to covert current class material into virtual classes.
• Develop resources to help MM staff and clients access and utilize the virtual learning platform. Create Resource Hub that includes virtual training documents and instructional videos that help clients use Virtual Uplift U platform.
• Create a marketing strategy to generate community awareness of Virtual Uplift U.
• Design evaluation tools that measure program outcomes for the Virtual Uplift U.

. Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
• Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work and communicate with people in a professional and diplomatic manner.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or a Lawful Permanent Resident Alien
• Be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
• VISTA must be willing to relocated to Hillsborough County, Florida if they are not already located here.
• Must be available for full time working hours for 1 full year
• VISTA must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Check
