Manager, Formulary Development
Position Purpose: Oversee the development, management and maintenance of standard and custom formularies for all lines of business including Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Part D and the Health Information Marketplace lines of business
• Develop drug product review and formulary recommendations by assessing drug use trends, new drug releases and the review of the primary literature
• Facilitate the Pharmacy &Therapeutic (P&T) Committee review process by providing supporting documentation or other information needed
• Coordinate and facilitate review of formulary and utilization management recommendations with finance and other internal departments as required
• Facilitate meetings, schedules, agenda development, documentation and meeting minutes for all P&T Committee reviews
• Manage the communication of P&T Committee decisions and plan sponsors and internal stakeholders along with supporting documentation
• Analyze pharmacy cost of care, trends, and coordinate the development of appropriate use protocols and guidelines
• Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate policies and procedures on clinical based programs
• Collaborate with various departments to analyze data needed to drive financial decisions related to drug tier placements
• Manage the user interface and staff support for the formulary management tool to be used for publishing formularies
• Ensure relationships with vendors to provide formulary management tools
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree (PharmD., MS) in pharmacy or related field. 3 years of pharmacy experience, including 2 years of managed care pharmacy experience. Strong understanding of Drug Utilization Review (DUR), Medication Therapy Management (MTM), drug analytics and formulary development processes and procedures. Cost benefit analysis experience preferred.
License/Certification: Current State Pharmacist license without restrictions
