We are a Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery center looking for an experienced Mohs MA to join our team.
The dermatology medical assistant assists the Mohs surgeon by providing and controlling surgical instruments and equipment during Mohs stages. Ensures that instruments and supplies are cleaned, sterilized and available as needed. Provides hands on assisting with Mohs procedures and wound closures/repairs. In addition, the dermatology medical assistant will assist the provider in day to day dermatology patient flow.
Essential Functions:
• Opens sterile supplies and sets up for each procedure.
• Assists Mohs surgeon during procedure according to prescribed standards. Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• Sets up procedure room, according to prescribed standards.
• Assists Mohs surgeon throughout the procedure with instruments, and providing hands on assistance, according to prescribed standards.
• Dress and provide wound care instruction for the surgery site.
• Takes appropriate photographs of Mohs stages. Label and organize photographs.
• Handles specimens for pathology according to prescribed standards. Sterilization and aseptic technique.
• Demonstrated expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions.
• Knowledge of and ability to disinfect, clean and sterile surgical instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Assist in procedure room maintenance, including case preparation, room turnover, and instrument processing.
• Rooming patients and documents all vital information.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems (EMA preferred but not mandatory).
• Must possess organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and patients.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
