Position Description
JOB TITLE : Behavioral Health Specialist
OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB (PURPOSE ):
The Behavioral Health Specialist facilitates the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral health services for individuals and families at The Center of
Owensboro-Daviess County, Inc. (DBA: The Center). Specifically, the position will focus on individual counseling, family counseling, group sessions and utilize evidence based practice modalities, such as Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Responsibilities also include meetings and outreach activities.
[Note: The Center will provide the necessary resources and training for the PCIT certification, if the candidate is not currently certified to provide PCIT.]
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Coordinates all counseling meetings and activities, which includes groups and individual meetings. *

Reviews current procedures within the program to ensure it follows regulations.
Implements, maintains, reviews, and revises operational procedures that address all elements of the program.
Conduct patient screenings using standardized tools.
Sees clients independently per week using appropriate clinical and behavioral modalities and therapies.
Formulate treatment plans based on assessments and provide counseling and some brief treatments.
Coordinate with clinical providers, social service providers and care coordinators.
Work in close partnership with the agency staff and outside partners to provide diagnosis and assessment, and treatment or referral to patients with behavioral health problems.
Complete all required documentation for treatment planning, billing and licensure within a timely manner.

_ Ensures timely, accurate and complete client notes in the electronic case management/medical records. _

Assists with the monitoring and maintenance of clients’ files, ensuring all information is accurate and complete; document and provide feedback reviews for specialists to ensure quality work with clients.
Assists with developing and providing of reports, case summaries, etc. to appropriate persons in a timely manner.
Assists with ensuring all contracted guidelines are followed on a timely basis.
Assists in responding as needed (per cell phone, home phone calls, etc.) to crisis situations encountered by coordinators and clients.
Maintains reporting of all monitoring conducted and communicate necessary findings.

_ _* Maintains open communication and consults with the program director about system concerns within the program. *
_ _* Provides guidance to management regarding operational procedures. *
_ _* Assists in the development of methods to improve the program’s efficiency and quality of services. *
_ _* Assists in assuring the agency fulfillment of contract obligations and assist in preparing proposals as requested. *
_ _* Maintains a regular meeting schedule of the staff meetings, treatment meetings, and case consultations. *
_ _ Also responsible for any additional assignments requested by immediate supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Able to comprehend, process, interpret, and carry out (follow) instructions.
Work directly with employees and be able to communicate with the staff.
Vision sufficiently correctable to permit full performance of all job duties.
Ability to drive or provide transportation for required travel in specified counties, or service area.
Wide range of mobility including walking, climbing (step stool), sitting, stooping and bending.
Physically able to perform with degree of dexterity such clerical functions as filing, labeling, stamping, stapling, typing and writing.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or family therapy is required. Licensure to practice clinical discipline by the state of
Kentucky required. 2 years of related experience preferred.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Behavioral Health Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director and works under his/her supervision.
