Job Description:
The R&D Product Development Manager is responsible to understand and lead project assignments.  The primary goal is to rapidly develop new separator products that help improve performance of lead acid batteries and/or provide discovery, development and commercialization support for new business development.
• Leads project teams with local or global cross-functional members for development of materials and new products for business results.
• Drives development, introduction and validation of new processes and products to meet real market needs, working closely with Manufacturing, Technical Service, Marketing and Sales.
• Manages or supports capital projects to develop new capabilities, as necessary.
• Makes good use of appropriate statistical methods for data analysis, including the use of statistics in the design of experiments.
• Communicates clearly with team members, management, customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders.
• Applies Voice of the Customer and Business Case information in developing NPD projects.
• Manages projects within Stage Gate process guidelines.
• Travels domestically and internationally, estimated at ≤ 15%
• Effectively uses in MS PowerPoint, Excel and Word and has excellent oral communication skills.
• Flexible and willing to accept or assume new responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment.  Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.  Lighting and temperature is adequate.  Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Education, Experience, and skills Education :
• Prefer Ph.D. degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with specialization in Microporous Membranes or Battery Materials
Professional experience :
• At least 11+ years for BS, 8+ years for MS, or 6+ years for PhD
Communications:
• Interpersonal skills that build positive relationships and influence others within Technology and across organizations.  Actively listens and is able to interact with all levels of the business from senior leaders to working teams.
