Mortgage Loan Underwriter
Liberty Financial – a Division of ETFCU is currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Underwriter . The successful candidate should have excellent mortgage skills, organizational skills and multi-tasking skills. This position will be based out of the Hurstbourne location (Louisville, KY) or Owensboro Mortgage Office. If interested, please proceed by clicking Apply.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Underwrite Conventional, Portfolio, FHA, VA, USDA, State Programs, Construction, Bridge, and Home Equity products according to the credit unions policies and procedures and secondary market guidelines.
• Evaluate loan submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to portfolio and investor guidelines.
• Calculate qualifying income including analyzing complex tax returns and financial statements.
• Review and approve appraisals.
• Analyze credit reports, income documentation, and asset statements.
• Update the information in the loan origination platform to verify, add, delete, or waive conditions.
• Document and effectively communicate reasons for the approval/rejection of loans.
• Respond to questions, queries, and requests with suitable information.
• Make responsible loan decisions to achieve organizational goals.
• Develop a working knowledge of the mortgage loan origination system.
• Understand and apply the different federal regulations associated with mortgage loans.
• Assist the department in conducting on-going training relative to changes in the rules and regulations associated with mortgages.
• Be knowledgeable of all credit union services and products.
• Adhere to the credit union’s S.E.R.V.I.C.E. standards.
• Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.
• Develop a working knowledge of the credit union’s data and word processing systems.
• Assist with any other duties assigned by my supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
• Ability to make sound judgment decision on every application
• Credit skill, interpersonal skills and excellent written communication skills
Experience Level Required:
• 2+ years of experience in Mortgage Processing or Underwriting
• Thorough understanding of Processing and Closing functions and a general understanding of the entire mortgage lending process
