It's what drove us to invent the convenience industry in 1927 by envisioning how a simple ice dock could provide household staples such as milk and eggs to better serve the needs of our customers.Today we are redefining convenience and the customer experience in big ways...we are fundamentally changing our culture and we want talented, innovative, customer obsessed, and entrepreneurial people like you to come make history with us.▶ How we leadAt 7-Eleven we are guided by our Leadership Principles.Be Customer Obsessed Be Courageous with Your Point of View Challenge the Status Quo Act Like an Entrepreneur Have an "It Can Be Done" Attitude Do the Right Thing Be AccountableEach principle has a defined set of behaviors which help guide the 7-Eleven team to Serve Customers and Support Stores.▶ About This OpportunityResponsibilities* Analysis of existing database schemas and in use queries.* Advise on changes needed to improve performance including index creation, query optimizations, schema changes, database configuration settings and storage.* Spearhead efforts in database performance tuning and optimizations; coordinate with Dev and QA teams to perform necessary tasks.* Implement proactive monitoring of all databases to predict and diagnose the majority of problems before they impact application performance or user experience.* Develop and implement corrective measures for database issues/problems found during monitoring.* Undertake periodic upgrades of database schema and perform testing and verification of released database schema upgrades.* Review existing configurations and installations and provide design decisions for improvements to platform environments.* Assist developers write better/optimized queries.* Work with Dev and QA on large testing environments.* Maintain communication with managers to ensure quality and effective database solutions are offered and implemented and also coordinate with the development architecture group to ensure that corporate design guidelines are followed.Qualifications* A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is required, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience (6 years).* 8+ years of experience including performance tuning of large-scale databases.* Knowledge in designing and managing high availability environment.* Demonstrated experience in architecting a large-scale production database platforms including warehouse solutions.* Proficient with monitoring, collecting diagnostics and tuning Postgres as well as SQL tuning for optimal performance.* Proficient with Postgres architecture.* Advanced knowledge of SQL query execution, execution analysis & optimization, indexing strategies, etc.* Experienced PostgresSQL developers with strong skills in query tuning and analyzing explain plans.* Advanced knowledge of PL/pgSQL, triggers and writing change scripts.* Proficient with Postgres monitoring and alerting tools/processes.* Ability to work independently and effectively in complex environments.* SQL query execution: 1 year (Required).* performance tuning of large-scale databases: 6 years (Required).* architecting large-scale production database platforms: 2 years (Required).* PostgreSQL Administration: 6 years (Required).
