Position Overview
The QA Manager will implement Quality Assurance and Operations practices in conjunction with our supplier, co-packer and our plant QA teams. This position is integral in assuring that our new and exciting products supplied to our customers meet all specifications of safety, compliance and consistency. This is a role for someone who is looking for an entrepreneurial challenge. This is an opportunity for someone who is assertive, a problem solver, shows a sense of urgency and accountability.
Duties and responsibilities
· Manage, coordinate, and execute the quality control and quality assurance functions in the FDA/USDA regulated/GFSI Certified food manufacturing facility.
· Assure all new and existing products meet the specifications of safety, compliance, and consistency.
· Assure that the plant and production activities meet the specifications for food safety and product compliance as set in the SQF plan.
· Verify proper sanitation and coordinate QC activities which include food safety practices, weight control, proper labeling, etc.
· Responsible for all the documentations related to SSOP, HACCP plan, SQF, etc.
· Supervise daily pre-operation inspections and assure corrective action when needed.
· Provide recommendations and implement plans on continuous quality improvement in the facility.
· Assure that the production line inspectors are monitoring activities and recording required data.
· Assure that the scales, thermometers, and all other measuring devices are calibrated on timely manner and are working properly.
· Review product samples visually and organoleptically; use outside lab services periodically to assure chemical and nutritional compliance.
· Assure that the allergen program is strictly adhered to.
· Provide quality training to plant personnel as needed/required.
· Assure that the inbound and outbound goods meet specifications.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry or biology. Knowledge of basic food microbiology and food safety.
• 3-5 years of food industry experience in a QA supervisory or managerial role.
• Experienced in working with GMPs, SQF, HACCP and regulatory affairs (USDA/FDA).
• SQF Practitioner, Basic HACCP certified.
• Self-starter, entrepreneurial and adaptable.
• Knowledge of food plant sanitation and principles.
• Computer literate (excel, word, outlook).
• Report writing, organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
