Our Technical Operations Manager will provide technical operations expertise and thought leadership towards our core mission of empowering individuals, corporations, universities, public sector, and health insurance companies to use technology in a simple but powerful way to give them greater control of their healthcare needs. This role supports our operations, products, and growth with the tools and solutions to meet market demand in a 24x7 globally distributed environment. You will be at the intersection of technical operations, product engineering, cloud computing, and complex data environments. You will be deeply experienced in at least three, passionate about all four, and conversant with stakeholders in all.
You will join us in supporting our large scale, distributed platform spanning across multiple geographic locations. Our platform resides fully in AWS, operates in dozens of markets globally and focuses on ease of use for our customers along with integrity & security for the data they trust us with.
Position Description:
• We are seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager based in the US (remote) to build and lead a team of 12-15 Cloud Support and Data Engineers providing world-class support on our Cloud based (AWS) healthcare platform
• Our TechOps engineers resolve complex technical issues ranging from general guidance on the technical / cloud services we use through technical deep-dives identifying and resolving complex data configuration and operations issues to service level monitoring across our platform
• Research, develop and apply new innovative operations technologies to our healthcare platform
• Be a thought-leader and advocate of state-of-the-art tech-ops technology and engineering approaches
• Provide detailed reviews of service disruptions, metrics, detailed pre-launch planning
• Be extremely customer focused and passionate about performance, reliability and operations
• Be extremely detail oriented and define and maintain our standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
• Deep expertise using the best industry standards and tools to support mission critical services
• Work with autonomy to find solutions to complex problems and be flexible and responsive to changing requirements and priorities
• Be an experienced manager of technical teams in a 24x7 environment
• The ability for critical thinking outside your immediate sphere of responsibility
• Have experience with commercial products and environments (not just internally focused)
• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
• Highly motivated and hands-on to solve customer problems with technical expertise
• Maintain positive communication in a timely manner with customers and team members
• Oversee our platform support activities by identifying and prioritizing resolutions
• Conduct analysis and present periodic reviews of operational performance
• Provide effective leadership through coaching, feedback, and performance management
• Have a collaborative working style and contribute to the development of our technical communities across the company
What we expect from you:
• BS or MS in Computer Science (or related technical discipline) or equivalent industry experience
• 10+ years’ experience leading and managing technical operations teams with the curiosity and desire to learn new technologies, approaches, and management techniques
• Be highly technical, analytical, operations focused, and have high attention to detail
• Proven track record of delivering results through people, business and operations management
• Have hands-on expertise in at least one of our technical domains - DevOps, Engineering, Data Management, TechOps
• Have a proven record of driving improvement programs in the operations, engineering and support fields
• An excellent communicator (in English), proactive and self-sufficient, with strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to break down and clearly define problems
• Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels
• Passion for best quality practice and continuous professional development
Our preferred Qualifications:
• Expertise in geo-distributed Cloud environments (preferably AWS)
• Project and program management experience in delivering key business outcomes
• Experience in global, cross geographical project delivery, coordination, and resource management
• Experience with container technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
• DevOps and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) knowledge
• Information Security and CyberSecurity knowledge
• US Healthcare experience
