A Tampa firm has a need for a 6 month contract attorney with the possibility of going permanent. The ideal candidate will have general corporate and commercial contracting experience and be able to provide general corporate legal support and advice to various clients, primarily for matters relating to technology. The required legal support includes reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts and other legal documents, as well as identifying issues and concerns.
Responsibilities:
• Structure, review and draft commercial agreements of varying complexity.
• Provide legal review support and work collaboratively with other White & Case attorneys on existing and new contracts.
• Review contracts for consistency, exceptions and conformance with any agreed to changes.
• Experience with technology, data protection/data breach notification, service and/or procurement agreements a plus, as is working knowledge of intellectual property law or the payments and/or financial services industries.
• Assist clients with contract interpretation and how to address and resolve issues that arise in the course of contract performance.
Qualifications
• Propose strategies to improve both the efficiency and quality of legal support.
• Be proactive, have strong organizational and analytical skills, and be an effective team player and strong individual contributor. In other words, we need a good problem solver.
• Stay up-to-date on legal developments.
• Ability to multi-task and work quickly and collaboratively while managing deadlines.
• Superior written and oral communications skills.
• Sound judgment and good business sense, including the ability to provide advice based on a nuanced understanding of the business.
• Ability to work autonomously in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and employees as part of a team.
• Possess a strong client service focus and solutions-oriented, self-starter, can-do mentality.
• Ability to work efficiently, prioritizing conflicting demands under tight deadlines.
• Ability to grow in role and assume increasing levels of responsibility.
• Intellectual Property experience is a plus.
• Experience analyzing and addressing data protection / privacy / cyber-security issues is a plus.
• Payments experience and financial services experience also a plus.
• JD degree from accredited law school.
• 3+ years experience working on corporate matters at a law firm or in- house, law department preferred.
