Position Summary: Monitors staff productivity and work quality to ensure departmental goals and objectives are met or exceeded. Reviews medical and dental billers’ workload and implements efficient workflow processes to accelerate billing, coding, and account resolution. Identifies, implements and monitors process improvement initiatives for the Billing department.
Essential Functions :
• High Level reporting of denial trends, and reimbursement or contract issues. Monthly billing reports due to management.
• Assists assigned staff with meeting individual productivity and quality goals. This includes implementation and evaluation of performance and quality indicators. Supports management in the development, implementation, and monitoring of action plan when individuals are not meeting or exceeding established goals.
• Supports management in monitoring medical and dental charge inventory or account receivable activity to ensure KPI’s are being met or exceed. Supports management in initiating appropriate corrective measures as needed, develops and maintains an action plan when KPI’s are not meeting goal. Allocates resources to ensure that staff are taking appropriate measures to handle assigned process within required time frames.
• Responsible for monitoring activities related to specific tasks such as customer service, denial follow-up, refund requests, payment posting, and billing correspondence. Ensures that appropriate work lists are in place and staff is working them accurately and within designated time-frames.
Knowledge and Experience :
8-10 years billing or coding experience, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge of Dental billing and accounts receivable, preferred.
Required to have an advanced knowledge of Excel and Word, must have the ability to use Excel to analyze and report data to management.
Must be able to communicate well, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage others and work under specific time constraints when necessary.
Education, Certification, Training and License:
Prefer CPC certification, not required.
Bachelor’s degree with billing or coding experience.
