As a Senior Software Development Engineer in S3, you get to deliver these capabilities and delight our customers through teams of talented engineers and leaders.
S3 Request Shaping is tasked with building the next generation of services dedicated to defending S3 against a wide variety of sub-optimal and hostile actors while keeping a solid Quality of Service. As a Senior Engineering Leader on the S3 Request Shaping Team you will lead key development projects integrating with the current S3 Web Server and building standalone distributed micro-services utilizing expert knowledge, pattern recognition, and machine learning techniques to analyze requests and autonomously mitigate undesired behavior at the massive scale of S3. You will code systems and services that allow rapid development to meet the fast-paced nature and interesting challenges that are at the heart of S3's technology. Senior Engineers on this team must have a deep knowledge of computer science, a solid foundation in software engineering practices, and a genuine desire to mentor and lead their more junior teammates.

S3 services are highly available, but there are times when we occasionally stray away from our SLAs. In order to minimize the impact of such excursions, we do have On-Call rotations. However, we set these up so there are focused time periods when you are on-call and when you are not, you can focus on your day job :)

While S3 Request Shaping is looking for the engineers from across the globe to serve our world wide commercial customers, this team also has select positions to support our U.S. Intelligence Community customers. Engineers desiring U.S. Intelligence Community positions must be U.S. Citizens who currently hold, or are willing to obtain, a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information clearance with a U.S. Government administered Polygraph
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• This position allows for candidates that desire to obtain or maintain an active TS/SCI Security Clearance, but is not a requirement.
