Role and Responsibilities
Summary
The Software Engineering Technical Authority serves as the overall technical lead for the department in support of the Software Manager, acting as their primary advisor on technical decisions and strategy, while providing technical leadership and execution support to members of the department and to the entire Engineering organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership in software development technological vision and strategy, ensuring solutions, products, and projects lead the industry while maximizing profitability.
• Support program execution, guiding engineering team and maintaining “hands-on” currency with CAE technology and practices.
• Monitor software development technology both within and outside the simulation industry to analyze advancements and their potential applications in our business, or as opportunities for adjacent growth.
• Combine this knowledge of technological advancements with “hands-on” currency to influence solution decisions, R&D investments, and future technology direction.
• Support business development efforts in solution development, proposal writing, costing, trade studies, and design to cost activities.
• Represent CAE USA with the Global Engineering (GE) team to promote technology alignment, define and support GE initiatives, and ensure GE consideration of US market requirements.
• Talent Scout for Engineering Technical Career Track; Evaluation of technical acumen of senior engineering team members.
• Responsible for maintaining all software development policies and procedures
• Owns the overall software testing strategy for the department
• Represents Software Engineering at any Architecture Review Boards
• Ensures consistency of Software Engineering technical lead decisions
• Monitors software Engineering Technical Debit
QUALIFICATIONS AN EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
• Minimum of 15 years of experience working in an Engineering discipline
• Experience with software development, complex software systems, and hardware / software integration
• Understanding of software architectures, components, and technology
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively lead technical teams
• Eligible for a US DoD Security Clearance
SECURITY RESPONSIBLITIES
• Compliance with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Export Controlled information
• Personally responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials, in any form, produced by the incumbent.
• Shall not divulge any sensitive information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
• Shall not divulge company private information outside company without management approval.
• Must execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to controlled information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work sometimes performed in an environment where irritants such as noise, temperature, and lighting variations may exist, but there is little chance of injury, accident, or occupational health problems.  Moderate to high levels of stress are sometimes experienced with this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally.
• Must be familiar with and be able to work on simulation training devices, including using access stairs and ladders.
• Must be able to work overtime and off-shift.
