Join our Water Use Permit Bureau
and make a lasting impact. Here is your opportunity to assist our Water Use Permit (WUP) Compliance section while gaining real-world work experience. You will have the opportunity to work as an active team member on both sides of the permitting process and will also work with our Senior Staff to complete important projects.
For helping to maintain our valuable water resources as a student, we offer:

As an intern, you are eligible to attend these on-site trainings.

Compensation: $13.99 hourly Essential Functions
• Work with overpumpage in the Compliance section
• Work with ownership transfers in the Water Use Permit section
• Handle other projects as needed
• Visit sites with senior team members
Working Conditions
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This position requires the ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Must be able to operate a District vehicle with attached equipment for two hours or more at a time. May be exposed to extremes in temperature and humidity, as well as a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks. Work environments vary by assigned business unit.
Required Credentials for Water Use Permit Student Intern
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
• Provide a copy of Official school transcript within 30 days of employment
• Upload Unofficial Transcript to application or profile
• Valid driver’s license
Preferred Credentials for Water Use Permit Student Intern
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Statistics experience
• Preferred Degrees: Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related field
• Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate or Graduate
Additional Details
This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week out of the Tampa, FL office. Student Internship positions are not eligible for insured medical benefits.
Travel Required
Yes. Some travel, using a District vehicle, within the District's coverage area
