SOF AT&L - SME Engineer (PEO-RW) Apogee Engineering | Tampa, Florida 33601 Unspecified Intel Agency (NSA, CIA, FBI, etc) Unspecified Apogee is actively seeking a SME Engineer to be located at MacDill AFB in Tampa FL . This position will support the Rotary Wing (RW) Program Executive Office (PEO). PEO-RW Mission: Responsible for providing the Army Special Operations Aviation Command and Special Operations Aviation Regiment with the most advanced rotary wing aircraft, mission equipment, and training systems available.

What you will be doing:
• Maintain a detailed understanding of technical and programmatic issue relating on-going and planned acquisition projects for SOF Rotary Wing aircraft;
• Provide independently derived assessment to the PEO on Rotary Wing technical issues and options for issue resolution;
• Interact with SOF aircrews and SOF rotary wing aircraft maintainers to understand key user requirements and capability gaps;
• Lead small teams in identifying out of the box solutions to solving user capability gaps;
• Liaison with senior technical leaders within the government and industry to find leading edge technologies to address SOF Rotary Wing Enterprise requirements and capability gaps;
• Develop, coordinate, and execute rapid prototyping of leading-edge technologies (avionics, communications, materials, and survivability equipment) to assess ability to imrove SOF mission execution;
• Lead the development and coordination of the technology insertion roadmap within the SOF Rotary Wing Enterprise;
• Independently conduct trade-off analysis in system performance improvements vs. system performance penalties for a given technology as it applies to SOF Rotary Wing application;
• Develop concepts for S&T projects having benefit to the SOF Rotary Wing Enterprise, write proposals, and apply for S&T funding for project execution;
• Lead the execution of projects funded by S&T and report status/results to Rotary Wing Enterprise leadership;
• Engage USSOCOM PEOs and members of other DoD Services to find common S&T issues that can be jointly sponsored/funded;
What you'll need:
• TS/SCI security clearance required
• DAWIA Level II Equivalency
• Master's degree required in business or technical field (engineering/math/physics)
• 10+ years DoD acquisition experience
• 10+ years’ experience working in S&T
• Desired - knowledge of the SOF Rotary Wing mission and operating environment
• Highly effective oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to independently conduct trade-offs in system performance improvements vs. system performance penalties;
• Be a self-starter that performs well in small groups with minimal oversight;
• Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System as directed by DoD Instruction 5000.02;
• Working knowledge of the Defense Acquisition Framework process;
• Working knowledge of the defense industrial base and evolving technologies aplicable to SOF rotary wing aircraft;
• Working knowledge of DoD laboratory/S&T technology development infrastructure
