Our Client is seeking a Paralegal in Tampa, FL.
Earn $50,000 to $60,000 per year at this is full-time, permanent position. Work 40 plus hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Job Description:
• Keep cases organized by opening files, monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, documenting actions taken on files, inputting and organizing information and documents in case management software and staying in close communication with attorney regarding case status
• Enter and maintain to-dos for tasks in case management software
• Receive and distribute settlement checks and distribute them to appropriate parties, sending dismissals to client, and following firm’s case closing procedures
• Prepare hearing notebooks in conjunction with legal assistant and litigation support attorneys
• Prepare correspondence, pleadings, motions, orders, etc. as needed
• Keep clients informed by maintaining contact and communicate case progress
• Serve discovery and follow up on responses to discovery with agreed orders on motions for extension, good faith letters and ex-parte motions to compel
• Respond to discovery served by opposing counsel, filing motions for extension when necessary and tracking response deadlines
• Track and prepare proposals for settlement
• Prepare non-party subpoenas, tracking deadlines for objections and service and receive responses
• Coordinate expert witnesses such as IME doctors, peer reviews, coding reviews, etc.
• Receive and organize claims materials from client in a manner that allows quicker review of the documents in future case reviews
• Enhance trial proceedings by organizing witness lists, exhibits and trial binders
Job Requirements
Requirements:
• High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Able to read and interpret legal documents and procedure manuals
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Working knowledge of Case Management and billable hours software
• Time Matters and Juris software experience a plus
