Our client, a leading downtown Tampa, multi-state law firm with 600+ employees, is seeking a third or fourth year associate in Tampa for its firm-wide business transactions practice group. The ideal candidate has been exposed to complex business transactions, definitely including mergers and acquisitions and possibly also including securities offerings, corporate finance transactions and joint ventures. The successful candidate must also have an LL.M. in Taxation, and excellent academic credentials and demonstrated writing skills are also required. Admission to practice in Florida and larger law firm experience preferred (but the firm is willing to consider strong candidates seeking to relocate to Tampa from major markets). Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team while being able to work individually on client matters in an environment where drive and client service are highly valued.
Our client serves their business clients in key industries across the country and around the globe. Their national and international litigation teams are well equipped to handle the most complex business trials, arbitrations, and appeals, and have developed especially deep experience in the defense of class actions and mass actions, white collar representation, high-stakes business litigation, and government investigations. They have tried more than 1,500 cases to judgment or verdict and defended several hundred class actions across the country.
The cases they handle cut across every subject area, including consumer and business fraud, Foreign Corrupt Practice Act enforcement, contracts, shareholder disputes, antitrust, insurance, securities, products liability, construction, real estate, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy, labor and employment, intellectual property, health care, telecommunications, energy, constitutional claims, international and domestic arbitration, and federal and state governmental disputes.
They advise clients on sophisticated business transactions across a range of issues and industries, including both domestic and international matters and handle a wide variety of transactions for clients throughout the country and internationally. Locally, they have a strong presence in Tampa, with 95 attorneys in the office, including all administrative management.
They also cater to high-growth clients, including technology-based companies, advising them on capital formation, debt financing, corporate governance and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, securities compliance and disclosures, tax planning, and cyber-security concerns, as well as all phases of real property site acquisition and disposition, financing, permitting, and development.
Their government consultants have extensive expertise dealing with federal and state regulators, legislative bodies, and executive agencies on a wide range of issues, including insurance and tort reform, health care, financial regulation, government investigations, and enforcement actions.
