Full Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties
• Handle incoming calls and scheduling
• Prepare basic notices, letters, rough drafts of discovery, and other litigation pleadings (with the supervision of an attorney)
• Ability to perform legal research
• Ability to bates label (electronic), index and summarize file materials
• Work directly with lawyers in the firm with tasks, including assisting with the preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Perform e-filing and e-service of pleadings
• Organization and maintenance of litigation files
• Time management and billing of tasks performed
Qualifications and Skills
• Must have a college degree or be actively working towards a college degree; paralegal certificate a plus
• Must have a minimum of two years paralegal experience in the litigation field; insurance defense a plus
• Familiarity with litigation terminology
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced atmosphere
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
• Team player, friendly, dedicated, and hard-working
• Great communication skills and highly organized
• Computer skills including office products (Word, Excel, Lexis/Westlaw); Apple experience a plus
