Description
Network Engineer (Tier III) will provide Tier III support to a team of system design engineers, system build engineers and infrastructure technologists to successfully deliver significant infrastructure change in a large-scale enterprise environment. This position requires the use of collaborative leadership skills to influence others, with or without direct authority, and to unite groups with diverse perspectives in order to bring teams to consensus/alignment.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with excellent written/verbal communication skills, able to work with minimal supervision. Candidate will have an eye for detail, and a systematic working style with the ability to work cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organizational structure. Must be self-confident with strength in leading people.
• This position requires both broad and deep working knowledge of technologies used in network engineering design and maintenance to include route/switch, data center, and Cisco UCS technologies.
• Provide overall enterprise level LAN and WAN IP-based infrastructure systems planning, operations and maintenance, and management.
• Manage infrastructures for operational networks, of multiple security classification levels.
• Perform analyses on networks to discover and document the baseline.
• Support planning and execution of network installations and hardware upgrades.
• Perform engineering trouble shooting/problem solving at the system and component levels.
• Conduct LAN and WAN preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting/problem resolution on a wide range of technologies such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, DMVPN, Spanning-Tree, Port-Security, etc.
• Use network analysis tools (CISCO Prime, SolarWinds, Python, etc.).
• Provide advanced technical analyses of network infrastructure challenges and problems; develop/identify technical solutions responsive to customer needs.
• Engineer, install, test, and maintain wiring (copper and fiber) infrastructures.
• Support an improved infrastructure information security vulnerability posture through the performance of vulnerability assessments and analyses.
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of 802.1X technologies, primarily Cisco Identity Services.
• Ability to work projects and task independently without supervision.
• Concurrently manage the infrastructure build-out on multiple initiatives.
• Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project and meeting interim deadlines of project.
• Mentor new hires through on boarding process and assists with project management tools, templates and processes.
• Assigns and monitors work of technical personnel providing support and interpretation of instructions/objectives.
• Manage compliance with all IT governance standards through approved tools, templates, policies, procedures and process leanings.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree and 9+ years of experience; OR, High School equivalent and 13+ years of experience.
• Candidate must have a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
• Active CCNP certification is required.
• Security + CE or CCNA-Security certification is required.
• A fundamental understanding of Software Defined Networking (Cisco ACI or VMWare NSX)
• A current U.S. passport is required.  Must be willing to deploy OCONUS (less than 10% of the time)
Desired Qualifications:
• Prior experience working within a military or COCOM IT infrastructure environment.
• Riverbed, ASA Firewalls, F5 Load-Balancers and VMWare Virtualization
• Type One encryption devices.
• Expertise in infrastructure design and architecture, deployment, operations and maintenance, and upgrades.
• Solid working knowledge in the planning, design, integration, optimization, operations, security, and support of enterprise network infrastructures.
• Systems design and architecting for operational and tactical theater network installations and upgrades.
• Experience managing infrastructure of mid-size operational networks (200+ routers/switches, 150+ servers, 1500+ workstations) in a high-paced fluid environment.
• Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the system engineer level.
