An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Applications Specialist .  This is a permanent opportunity with Qvella Corporation (USA), with preference given to candidates located near or in a major city on the Eastern time zone . We are only looking for one candidate, considering several different regions including, but not limited to : Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa, Raleigh/Durham, Baltimore, Washington, New York, Boston, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh.  Since there is significant travel involved in this role, the successful incumbent will need easy access to a major airport.
Qvella is a start-up molecular diagnostics company building the infrastructure to field and support transforming products in the microbiology market segment in the coming year.  We are looking for ambitious, driven, relationship focused and experienced microbiology laboratory professionals that want to work in a fast paced non bureaucratic environment. Nature and Scope of Work:
The Clinical Application Specialist, a field-based role, reporting into the Vice Presidents of Sales, North America, will be integral in transforming products of the future, and will participate in a team driven environment with a pioneering spirit. Working closely with the sales team, this position is responsible for providing device validation and implementation support including product demonstrations and operator training and troubleshooting service. This person will cultivate positive customer relationships and be a high-level customer interface for Qvella products as well as a technical expert to contribute to positive territory relationships and reputation.
While this role is a largely independent with individual responsibility, we are committed to offer our employees a working environment which encourages team spirit.  As a sole member of the Qvella team at our customer site through the implementation process, the incumbent needs the self-direction and confidence to solve problems and seek resources with each new implementation.  Subject Master Expert support is provided by key medical executives and our engineering teams from our Home office in Richmond Hill, Ontario as well as our Carlsbad, California office.
This is a field-based role, covering North America.  It is anticipated that approximately 80% or more of the time, the incumbent will be working on site at a hospital (or similar medical facilities).  Included in that, they will spend time representing Qvella on occasion attending various local and National trade shows or visiting our home office in Richmond Hill, ON and our US Head Office in Carlsbad.
As there is no Qvella office in each state, the incumbent will need to take ownership of finding their own space, typically in their home, to set up as home office for the approximate remaining 20% of their time.
To facilitate this mobility, incumbents will be provided a suitable laptop and expense reimbursement.
Note that we reserve the right at any time to redistribute geographic areas as we grow and develop the market, though all reasonable efforts will be made to protect productive relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
• Provide expert technical, demo service and product leadership by demonstrating superior products for Qvella product knowledge
• Provide support for customer implementation processes by providing product and applications information, answering inquiries, giving presentation and assist customer with meeting their regulatory and validation requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver product training to operators on Qvella instrumentations, cartridges and related supplies
• Improve customer satisfaction and retention through trouble shooting and excellent technical support
• Maintain most up to date knowledge on all products and related medical news through continuing education
• When needed, represent Qvella at trade shows and professional conferences by performing product demonstration and seminars.
• Use market and product knowledge to assist sales team in developing sales, marketing and customer account sales strategies
• Works with customers or other experts to generate appropriate field data and application notes or publications which highlight product benefits and helps differentiate Qvella products
• On a regular basis, summarize activities and quantify workloads in salesforce in a  timely fashion and in accordance with company policy
• Act as the customer liaison with direct management/peers and other functional groups including to provide detailed feedback regarding; deviations, problems, account information, and strategic information.
• Contribute to the development of structured teaching manuals and maintenance of technical support literature that ensure customers are able to effectively use system applications and functionality.
• Accomplish results individually and in collaboration in teams and work groups; Proactively address and support sales objectives and organizational directives to define problems and devise solutions, assist with work-flow analysis and process redesign.
• Other tasks and duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• 3+ years' experience with general laboratory techniques (including demonstrating new techniques and providing training to operators)
• Experience in microbiology and molecular diagnostics space with a background in infectious disease is a plus
• Have an understanding of how hospitals operate and hospital antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills (public speaking and lecture experience desired)
• Must be able to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada Monday through Friday as required, with occasional weekend travel, sometimes with only a short notice
• Solid problem-solving skills. Ability to manage and resolve conflict, communicate issues and propose solutions to both internal team members and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and present complex material in understandable terms.
• Demonstrated interpersonal & communication skills, ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to diverse external customers, global counterparts and to team members in other functional areas.
• Customer satisfaction is paramount while maintaining a team-oriented approach
• Ability to multi-task effectively and manage multiple priorities at one time
Education : BA/BS degree in biological sciences or chemistry. Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist degrees a plus.
