The Infection Preventionist coordinates the hospital’s Infection Control/Employee Health program in compliance with the established policies, procedures and standards of care. Provides surveillance and education relative to the prevention, detection, identification and control of infectious/communicable diseases within the hospital.
Brandon Regional Hospital is a 422 bed Statutory Teaching Hospital featuring one of the state’s busiest ER services with more than 121,302 ER patients treated last year. The hospital is a Top 100 Hospitals – 2019 IBM Watson Health featuring separate adult, pediatric and behavioral health ER programs on its main campus and three offsite freestanding ERs to meet the needs of the many communities it serves.
Specialty programs include a Women’s Center with Level III NICU; pediatrics and PICU; Heart and Vascular Center; Behavioral Health; Florida Bariatrics Centers; Neuroscience, Orthopedics and Spine centers. The hospital is an accredited Advanced Primary Stroke Center; Bariatric Center of Excellence (ASMBS) and Center of Excellence for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation; Echocardiography Lab accredited (ICAEL), and has earned several Joint Commission disease specific certifications including AMI, CABG, Heart Failure, Hip, Hip Fracture, Knee, Sepsis and Stroke.

Education:
RN, BSN, BS Medical Technologist, or a Candidate with a Master's in Public Health or Epidemiology.
Experience:
Two years previous experience in Infection Prevention preferred, or 3-5 years clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse, or medical technologist in Microbiology, Public health or Epidemiology
Licensure:
Current Florida State Registered Nurse license or Medical Technologist only required for RNs and Medical Technologist. Candidates with a Master’s in Public Health are not required to be licensed
Training:
Certification in Infection Control preferred, required to obtain certification in Infection Control within 2 years after hire
