Description: The Pathways Housing Specialist is responsible for providing direct services to enable clients that do not qualify for assistance in other Agency Programs that have been referred internally or externally. The Pathways Housing Specialist will provide social services and assistance to improve the social functioning of the program clients and to maximize their well-being.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Interview clients individually, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems, to determine what services are required to meet their needs.
• Explain, interpret, and apply HUD and other rental assistance programs policies, procedures, and regulations in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Assist Program Manager as a liaison while working with interested or participating landlords, rental agencies community organizations, service agencies, and charitable groups to provide information on needed resources.
• Develop and review housing service plans in consultation with clients, and perform follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
• Collect supplementary information needed to assist client.
• Assist clients with obtaining rent reasonable permanent housing based on program qualifications and client needs.
• Draft Request Tenant Approval forms and submit to Housing Inspector for inspection of unit.
• Schedule initial unit inspections and track all inspections.
• Records and maintains pertinent information according to the program guidelines regarding resident’s needs and concerns and presents this information to the Program Manager.
• Maintains required client, legal and administrative record and statistical data as required by Catholic Charities and program funder.
• Responsible for collecting all necessary documentation for client files.
• Networks and collaborates with other agencies and represents the agency at community functions, which may include public speaking and presentation as directed by program manager.
• Works in a spirit of cooperation with all external and internal stakeholders.
• Achieve individual productivity requirements, contribute appropriately to program productivity objectives, and use independent judgment.
• Complete and update case records for each client in accordance with agency Guidelines.
• Represent the program in appropriate meetings; public forums, partner agency meetings, workshops, etc.
• Network with other community providers regarding program services, and referrals of clients.
• Responsible for reports as required by the Agency and funder in a timely thorough manner.
Other Responsibilities:
• Complies with all applicable training requirements.
• Complies with all company safety, personnel, and operational policies and procedures.
• Complies with work schedule to ensure effective operations of Agency programs.
• Contributes positively as a member of a productive and cooperative team.
• Participates in Agency Performance Quality Improvement (/PQI) program and Accreditation/Reaccreditation process.
• Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill Catholic Charities Diocese of St Petersburg, Inc Mission.

Education & Experience:
• Associate degree or degree related to social services with one-year experience as a Housing Specialist or 3 years’ experience in social services.
• Strong leadership and networking skills
• Commitment to work with the Homeless or at Risk for Homelessness population.
• Thorough knowledge of community services and target populations
