The Tissue Core Facility at the Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join the Tissue Core Sample Processing Laboratory as a Research Specialist II in Tampa, FL. The Research Specialist II will be responsible for specimen processing and support for the Tissue Core laboratory Genitourinary Liquid Tumor Biorepository project in the following ways: Blood handling and fractionation including but not limited to plasma and buffy coat isolation Reagent and protease cocktail optimization and preparations Specimen labeling, processing and/or handling, including frozen aliquots; possible back up for nucleic acid isolations handling and fractionation, quality assurance testing and quantification Documentation and inventory management in inventory system application Operates in accordance to College of American Pathologist Biorepository SOPs established in the department The Research Specialist II should possess knowledge that will allow them to perform general laboratory techniques and follow established practices and protocols within the core facility. Performs assigned tasks and learns new procedures under minimal direction of senior staff. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to apply related concepts in broadly defined means with minimal guidance. Attends in-house courses, seminars and workshops, related to core activities and cancer biology. Proficient use of Microsoft applications is necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree Bachelor#s degree in a science related field of study. Must have three years laboratory experience and at least one year experience in academic setting. Prior experience in a liquid biorepository is ideal. #
