Preoperative / PACU / Operating Room Nurse
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 Operating Room RN
o Serve as circulating nurse for the operating rooms
 Preoperative/PACU RN
o Oversee admission of patients and all preoperative duties to prepare them for surgery, including chart preparation, data entry into medical record, insertion of peripheral intravenous lines as needed
o Participate in postoperative duties including attending to the patient during recovery, and overseeing discharge of the patient from the facility
 Administrative duties
o Assist in maintaining records of facility and ensure compliance with JCAHO including facility rounds, alarms/drills, etc.
o Assist the surgical supervisor with other administrative duties as required
Candidates should have:
• Proven ability in areas of: critical thinking and decisive judgment
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
• Ability to provide quality patient care, and demonstrate strong desire to learn and able to take initiative without constant supervision
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs
• Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Successful completion from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current licensure as an RN
Preferred but not required:
• Previous experience starting peripheral intravenous lines
• Previous PACU/OR experience
• Current ACLS certification
