Registered Pharmacy Technician Job Description
The Pharmacy Medical Technician/Associate provides assistance to licensed care health providers by preparing and dispensing medications. Pharmacy associates perform responsibilities which enhance the reputation and service-orientation of the pharmacy.
Registered Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities (This list not inclusive of all duties assigned)
The right candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
• Professionally and courteously provide answers to patient inquiries about prescriptions in person, through telephone and/online portal; educate and instruct patients on how and when to take medications.
• Understand and follow applicable Federal and Florida State laws and regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with American Care policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and protect patient privacy and security.
• Prepare medications by verifying instructions from health care provider. Check if prescriptions will interact negatively with other drugs that patient is consuming; advise patient on potential side effects with medications.
• Maintain and coordinate the pharmacy inventory; re-order medications when necessary.
• Keep pharmacy well organized: medication labeled and alphabetized, maintain logs of all prescriptions fulfilled, medications that has been dispensed, and ensure medication availability.
• Keep pharmacy safe and clean by complying with American Care procedures, rules and regulations.
• Attend all scheduled meetings and required training.
Registered Pharmacy Technician Qualifications
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• State of Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
• Prior 1-3 years administrative in clinical or community based setting or pharmacy supply experience is highly preferred.
• Must have the ability to comprehend and analyze information, knowledge of percentage and basic math calculations.
• Must be computer literate with good working knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Must be detail oriented with ability to multitask.
